人には印象深く残るいくつかの事がある。丸山恒雄さんには、赤い蟹の絵があり、絵画研究会での厳しい後姿がある。赤い蟹は小さなモチーフを大きく引きのばしただけのことではなく、画家の内面に鳴り響くヒューマンな、大きな物体となって構築され、画家の自画像ともなっている。

There are a few things that leave a deep impression on people. For Mr. Tsuneo Maruyama, there are his paintings of red crabs and the strict figure of him seen from behind at the painting study group. The red crabs are constructed as large, humanistic objects that resonate within the artist, becoming a self-portrait of the painter himself.
