昭和三一年の作。この沈黙の世界はパウル・クレーより想を得たものであろうか。この画のほかに「夜の海」「夜絃 」などもある。この抽象化の強い一連の作品には画家の若き日の精神に棲みついたイメージが色となり形となって出現、その抽象構成は具象をもみつめる両極性があり深い思索がみごとに結実している。（田中康夫「丸山恒雄」『長野県美術全集7 地域に花開く洋画の世界』）
Created in 1956. This silent world may have been inspired by Paul Klee. In addition to this painting, there are also Night Sea and Night Strings. In this series of works with strong abstraction, the images that took root in the artist’s youthful spirit appear in the form of colours and shapes, and the abstract composition has a bipolarity that also looks at the figurative, and the deep contemplation has come to fruition beautifully.
